Kirsten Blok, provider of Reflexology and Myomasology in Windsor, Ontario

Kirsten Blok, owner of Blok’s HANDS Of Healing in Windsor, Ontario, has been studying and practising reflexology, both enthusiastically and passionately since 1994. She believed in the concepts of reflexology so vividly and decided to make it her career even when no one in her community seemed to know much about this ancient healing art.

Kirsten soon realized that the basic reflexology course offered by the only place in Canada to learn reflexology at the time, was not enough skill and knowledge to pursue a lifetime career in reflexology. She searched for organizations outside of North America and found the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR). From there, she was able to attend advanced reflexology workshops in England & Hawaii and soon found how behind Canada seemed to be.

Still eager to learn more, Kirsten enrolled in Irene’s Myomassology Institute (IMI) to further her skills in health modalities and studied meridian based courses and bio-energetic studies like prana in reflexology, shiatsu, applied kinesiology, craniosacral therapy, etc. to add to her myomassology course. She also kept learning in Canada as well by training in Therapeutic Touch. After 3 years of consecutive study, Kirsten felt ready to pursue her fulltime practice in Reflexology.

This led to the beginning of her seven years as the in-house therapist at a local factory. Kirsten was involved in helping to reduce lost time due to injuries and absences from sick time, repetitive strain injuries, speedy recovery and mostly, reduce WSIB costs. However, after extreme downsizing in the company and the arrival of the CAW, she had to move on and restart her career elsewhere. In the meantime, she took personal time off to recover from heart surgery due to a congenital heart condition. By June 17th, 2005, Kirsten was back in business with her own practice and teaching service under the business name of 'Blok’s HANDS Of Healing'.

Kirsten sits on a board of the Reflexology Registration Council of Ontario (RRCO) as a service to the survival of reflexology in Ontario. This board is dedicated to keep reflexology of holistic and of professional health care status. In 2002, Kirsten also founded the Feet Meet Group, a private networking group for local reflexologists, in and around our area, to share and learn from each other. It is a place for new students and other reflexologists, to come to after they have passed the written test in order to practice and do the clinical hours with other students and veterans alike. Kirsten firmly believes that reflexology should be a household name and a common home remedy to enhance health naturally.

“Move over aspirin, make room for reflexology. Keep practicing." Kirsten Blok
